Lucknow: In a significant step towards organizational restructuring, the Indian National Congress has introduced a new unit called “Mandal” as part of its Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan (Organization Creation Campaign). This structural enhancement, approved unanimously during the Ahmedabad convention, aims to establish a strong link between Block and Nyay Panchayat (Justice Panchayat) levels, ensuring better grassroots connectivity.
On the fifth day of the campaign, AICC General Secretary and UP In-charge Avinash Pandey laid special emphasis on the formation of Mandal-level units during a strategic review meeting held in Lucknow. He said, “The appointment of Mandal Presidents is a vital link in strengthening the organization between the blocks and justice panchayats. The party leadership is monitoring the process closely and working through coordinators for effective implementation.”
The review meeting covered the Awadh Zone, including the districts of Lucknow, Unnao, Bahraich, Barabanki, Balrampur, Shravasti, Gonda, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Hardoi, and Rae Bareli.
Congress spokesperson Puneet Pathak informed that the meeting focused on assessing organizational strength and planning further outreach. Participating in the session were UP Congress President and former minister Ajay Rai, Leader of the Legislative Party Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’, and National Secretary & Co-incharge Dheeraj Gurjar along with district and city presidents, coordinators, and key office-bearers.
Ajay Rai stated, “The appointment of Mandal Presidents will energize the organization. This decision taken at the Ahmedabad convention will help integrate new individuals into the Congress ideology and structure, which is crucial for the upcoming 2026 Panchayat and 2027 Assembly elections.”
The leadership discussed major local issues from each district, stressing the need to raise burning concerns at the grassroots level and connect with the people through issue-based politics.
Key attendees at the meeting included UP Vice President Dinesh Singh, State General Secretaries Anil Yadav and Sanjay Dixit, along with zonal coordinators and other party officials.
